York

The historic city of York is only 30 minutes from the Milford Hotel and will keep you entertained for days with its many museums, sight-seeing tours, boat trips and of course York Minster. Along with a visit to the Jorvik centre, York Dungeons, it's a city not to be missed. On the outskirts of the centre is the Yorkshire Air Museum which is the largest independant air museum in Britain.

For those feeling more energetic the York City Walls are worth a walk around, whatever the time of year.

York also boasts one of the countries finest racing venues in York Racecourse​.

Harrogate

Harrogate is a beautiful town, nestled in the foothills of the Yorkshire Dales. The Milford Hotel is located about half an hour from Harrogate and is the perfect base for exploring Harrogate and the Yorkshire Dales.

After you have exhausted the boutiques and enjoyed lunch at Bettys you can relax and enjoy the Turkish Baths. Along with this you are also able to visit the many exhibitions and shows at the Harrogate International Centre and the annual Great Yorkshire Show held at the Yorkshire Showground.

Wetherby is a charming historic market town located 10 miles north of the Milford Hotel.

Wetherby is famous for its regular farmer's market and 'Wetherby in Bloom' team, who consistently keep Wetherby's floral displays as some of the best in Europe. Enjoy a leisurely time sat watching the world go by at the riverside.

Castleford

Pontefract

Pontefract is located just under 10 miles south of the Milford Hotel and is a historic market town dating back to at least the middle ages. Pontefract Castle was built by the Normans in about 1070, however the castle has been in ruin since 1644, when it was besieged during the English Civil War.

Less than five minutes from the Milford Hotel is Sherburn in Elmet. Sherburn is now the home of a major international industrial site for companies such as Sainbury's, Debenhams, Ejot and Legal and General Homes to name but a few.

Sherburn in Elmet is also known by bikers the world over for 'Squires Cafe Bar'. This biker's cafe, located between Sherburn and the Milford Hotel, is open all year round regularly gets up to 10,000 visitors every week during the summer. Just on the edge of Sherburn in Elmet village is an airfield from which light aircraft and helicopters operate from for business and private use.
